Apple iOS
iOS (known as iPhone OS prior to June 2010) is Apple's mobile operating system. Originally developed for the iPhone, it has since been extended to support other Apple devices such as the iPod touch, iPad and Apple TV. As of January 14, 2011, Apple's App Store contains more than 300,000 iOS applications, which have collectively been downloaded more than 10 billion times.
Google Android
Google Android is a mobile operating system that uses a modified version of the Linux kernel. Google Android powers a wide array of high end consumer elctronics such as smart-phones, tablet computers, media players and other embedded systems.
RIM BlackBerry
BlackBerry OS is a proprietary mobile operating system, developed by Research In Motion for its BlackBerry line of smartphone handheld devices. The operating system provides multitasking and supports specialized input devices that have been adopted by RIM for use in its handhelds, particularly the trackwheel, trackball, and most recently, the trackpad and touchscreen.
MeeGO
MeeGo is a Linux-based open source mobile operating system project. Primarily targeted at mobile devices and information appliances in the consumer electronics market, MeeGo is designed to act as an operating system for hardware platforms such as netbooks, entry-level desktops, nettops, tablet computers, mobile computing and communications devices, in-vehicle infotainment devices, SmartTV / ConnectedTV, IPTV-boxes, smart phones, and other embedded systems.
HP WebOS (formerly Palm WebOS)
webOS is a proprietary mobile operating system initially developed by Palm, which was later acquired by HP. The software was introduced by Palm in January 2009 as the successor to the legacy Palm OS, and was widely acclaimed following its unveiling for its integration of Web 2.0 technologies, open architecture, multitasking capabilities, and ease of use.
